Race report
Rain may have greeted the early birds but the course was quickly drying up by the time. Marathoners and 30K runners departed in ideal conditions, under an overcast sky and in 12-degree weather. In the men’s race, Dániel Soós crossed the line first, also taking the top spot in the Hungarian national championship. Among women, Tímea Merényi was the first across the line, earning her a second victory in Budapest after taking top honors in 2012. Report of the 30th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon
A record crowd of more than 16,000 athletes competed in the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon on a beautiful sunny Sunday. The fastest runner was Henry Kemboi from Kenya, finishing in a time of 1:06:27. When the last runner crossed the starting line in the City Park, the top runners were already at the foot of the Liberty Bridge, leading a five kilometer long field snaking through the city for a jubilee half marathon.
